Recently, my dear friend, Melissa, left a comment on my blog that made me really sad. She is going through a hard time and is right now where so many of us have been or may even be right this minute--in a pit.
On December 26th I read a wonderful devotion out of my Jesus Calling book. It really spoke to me and I am thinking of it again today after talking on the phone with Melissa. Here is an excerpt from it--and keep in mind, each day's devotion is written as if Jesus is speaking it directly to you.
"When you are dissatisfied with your behavior, you tend to feel unworthy of My Love. You may unconsciously punish yourself by withdrawing from Me and attributing the distance between us to My displeasure. Instead of returning to Me and receiving My Love, you attempt to earn My approval by trying harder. All the while, I am aching to hold you in My everlasting arms, to enfold you in My Love. When you are feeling unworthy or unloved, come to Me. Then ask for receptivity to My unfailing Love." (1 John 4:15-18; Deuteronomy 33:27; Psalm 13:5) ~Sarah Young, Jesus Calling, page 377
Stephen and I are about to go out to an early dinner to celebrate New Year's Eve. When I get home tonight I plan to sit down with a pen and paper and reflect on all the ways God has blessed me over this past year. Maybe tomorrow I will share some of those things on here.
Have a VERY Happy New Year and may God bless you!
I'll leave you with more vacation photos!
The kids often got their faces painted at the Kids Crew.
Just another gorgeous early morning view from our balcony!
